OUT OF CONTROL CHILDREN

  • Pro 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

    Is there a problem with today’s children? Is the problem with today’s children just a generation gap? Is every generation the same except for cultural differences? Are the problems faced with raising children today the same as our father’s generation?

Pro 30:11  There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.

Pro 30:12  There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

Pro 30:13  There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.

Pro 30:14  There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

     To answer the first question, yes there is a serious problem with today’s children. There is an entire generation with a few exceptions that has no respect for their parents. They have no regard for right and wrong. They have no morals. They have been or are being raised without personal character. They are spoiled.

Pro 22:15  Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

     Their lives are filled with fictitious violence in the television they watch and the games they play and all too often this reveals itself in very real violence. They live with a constant bombardment of music that pounds their very soul with messages of hate and destruction. Children are actually taught to be sexually active at an early age. They are given condoms at school and taught sex education and even have abortions arranged without parents knowledge and without the moral restraints that must accompany this education. They are raised without regard for God, others or their nation. They are taught that while a baby is in the womb, it is not a living human being. You see more instances since abortion was legalized of babies being found on roadsides, in trash canisters and in the woods and waters of America than ever could have been dreamed possible. This can only be expected when people are taught all of their lives that babies are not really human beings. There are not a lot of parents today that have not experienced their children screaming at them how much they hate them. They also scream that they are not loved and they are correct. The Bible is very explicit about this.

Pro 13:24  He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him quickly.

There is a generation that believes disciplining a child with corporal punishment is wrong. They are destroying their children and their families trying to prove God wrong and psychologist right. This philosophy that has pervaded an entire generation with these corrupt and erroneous teachings that corporal punishment is wrong and abortion is right is no different than the corrupt and erroneous teachings that makes those who have been brought up all of their lives in religous error strap a bomb to their body and kill as many as they can. This so called modern and enlightened generation are not killing with a bomb, they are using a surgeons scalpel. Error is error, whether it is religous or philosophy.  It is a serious uphill battle to unteach these false teachings just like it is almost impossible to unteach the Palestinians their suicide ways and it cannot begin until the ones who teach this are gotten out of the system. We have lost an entire generation to this false philosophy. It cannot be done at all without a return to preaching God’s word and living our faith in Christ. America stands at the same place Israel stood when Joshua challenged their faith. They found themselves at a decision making place. I believe America is at a decision making place.

  • Jos 24:15  And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

     Almost every child psychologist in the country will scream at that and a lot of false ministers of God will also. You might ask, why do you call these ministers “false”? Any man who denies what the scriptures plainly teach is a false minister. That used to be called a false prophet and there were many of them in the Old Testament. The liberal experiment in America has failed miserably and still people are gambling with the very souls of their children hoping against hope that these devils that teach these things are correct because the alternative is to believe God. We have a generation that curses mother, father and God and yet we cling to these false ways of raising children.

Pro 30:11  There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.

    This generation is completely different from generations of the past. Past generations were raised to honor their parents, respect their flag and worship and fear God.

Eph 6:2  Honor thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;

Eph 6:3  That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Pro 2:21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

Pro 9:10  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

I see a generation on the land that has no fear of God in their eyes. Like Paul was saying in the book of Romans;

Rom 3:18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.

     If the difference we see in America were a generation gap, there would be a blending of values, as they got older and supposedly wiser. Instead, in this generation we see a further leaning to the left and the dark side of humanity and sinfulness. We see this generation embracing Sodomy as a natural lifestyle and even giving it an honorable position in society. It is like the further into the dark path of destruction they travel; the more determined they are to prove that they are right and God is wrong. It is a destructive path they have chosen and it leads to the gates of hell itself. It is a true saying, turn or burn, repent or perish. They see themselves as pure and the true godly ones because they can accept all people with no room for sin in their vocabulary. They see those who believe the word of God and believe and preach that a person is hopelessly lost without Christ are fanatics or lunatics who have to be shut up at all cost. It is truly a perverse generation.

Pro 30:12  There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

     A lot of people think that there is no difference in this generation over every other generation that has come along. There is a vast difference in this generation. I remember when I was a boy that churches were not locked. They were open twenty-four hours a day in case someone felt the need to go to the altar and seek God’s face. My dad kept the shed locked with a bent nail. He taught me that locks were only there to keep an honest man honest. If they left them open now, there would be no church building or shed to go back to. I remember that when I was young, neighbors helped one another. If   your child got hurt while playing, a neighbor would help them without fear of getting sued. They would also pop their bottom if they were out of line and then call that childs parents. Teachers and Principals would discipline with corporal punishment also. There was no problem. It was expected of an adult to be responsible toward others children. If a child got hurt, neighbors would call and check on them. Doctors even made house calls. Now neighbors do not even know one another’s name. Kids played in the yard, parks, woods, and school fields. Now you hardly ever see a child outside. It isn’t safe. TV was limited when I was a child. The most violence you seen was Woody Woodpecker popping someone in the head or Wily Coyote falling for his own stupidity. Good cowboys always wore white hats and bad ones always had black hats on. The Lone Ranger and Tonto were compadres before racial marches were ever heard of. Gene Autry and Roy Rogers and Dale Evans were household icons. Now you would have to blow children away from the TV with dynamite. Movies had to be approved by my parents and kids would not have to be pschoanalyzed when they got home.. In the summertime mothers would fix lemonade for all of the kids because the kids played with each other. When I did wrong (I did) my dad would whip me. When I was young it was with the flat of his hand on my butt or with a switch, and when I got older, it was with his belt. It did not make me grow up to hate humanity and my parents. It did not make me subversive. Actually, I credit my dad for keeping me from prison or worse. I remember one time when I back-talked my dad and my older brother was there. My older brother jumped all over me and told me to do what dad told me to and if he ever heard me back-talk dad again he would whip me like a man. I believed him. I love my dad and I love my brother to this day. My brother is now seventy years old and I would stand in the gap for him if he needed it any time. Yes, there is a vast difference between this generation and others.

2Ti 3:1  This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2Ti 3:2  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

2Ti 3:3  Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

2Ti 3:4  Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

2Ti 3:5  Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

I could go over the scriptures of II timothy 3 as listed above word for word but just read it. It is self-explanatory.

     The last question I listed at the beginning of this article is “Are the problems faced with raising children today the same as our father’s generation”?  Actually, I will have to say yes they are the same. You see sin has not changed. A child’s will still has to be broken. Not their spirit, their will. I used to have a message I preached that people treat their horses better than they treat their children. They take great pains to break their horses will to theirs without breaking that horses spirit. A horse with a broken spirit is useless even for a saddle horse. Many parents know they have to discipline their children but do it in such a way that they end up breaking the spirit of that child? When a parent tells a child that is going to get a whipping that “this will hurt me more than you”, they are probably telling the truth. They in all likelihood will weep over the need to discipline that child. They will not punish in anger and they will be quick to receive that child into their love so the child will know the reason for the punishment does not affect their relationship or their love. This is the same way our heavenly Father punishes us. Punishment for a child teaches them that they cannot get away with breaking the rules while at home and they can fully expect for society not to accept rules being broken without due punishment when they are grown.

Col 3:21  Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

This is not telling you that you should not punish your children, it is telling you to love them, even in punishment. Never let punishment be shown as a lack of love.

The difference in this generation and others is obvious even to the most casual observer.

Just like God told Israel in Malachi 3:7 to return unto God and He would return unto them, we need a returning to God in America.
