Peace and freedom. Only an idiot would not want peace and freedom but peace at any cost is not peace. Compromise and isolationism for the sake of so called peace is slavery to those who would take away your peace and your freedom unless you bowed to them.
True peace and freedom is earned. True peace and freedom is very costly. Nothing worth having is free. Even as a Christian my peace and freedom with God had to be purchased. It was free to me but it cost God all he had. The peace and freedom you enjoy in America may not have cost you anything yet. It has cost someone dearly though. Go to Arlington or any other national cemetary or go to a veterans hospital and look around. Look at the tombstones you may never have looked at or the faces at the hospitals that you may have tried to avoid on the street. Look at the man or woman who may have given up dreams and hopes because your peace and freedom was threatened. Maybe it was a father, a grandfather or an uncle. They were these things to someone. One day it may cost you a son, a daughter or a friend. No one can seriously think that what our forefathers fought and died to provide us with can be enjoyed without a continued cost upon the lives of those who continue to live under the banner of this freedom.
Peace and freedom has always cost the lives of precious young people who knew and understood that wicked and evil people would do anything for power and fanaticism. No one wants to see young people die in a foreign land away from home and loved ones for any reason. Most people do realize though that without the self sacrifice of some there would be no freedom for any. It is the highest form of selflessness and love for someone to give there own life that others may live free. Even the selfish self servng liberal left from the draft dodgers of the past to the modern left wing socialist fall under this umbrella of freedom bought by these selfless few. It has always been that way and it always will be as long as evil people strive to get power over the helpless.
I know there are a lot of young people who go into the military for education or to get these benefits. It would be nice if they could recieve these things and no other burden would be placed upon them. They were gambling when they went in that they would get out without something happening where they would get called upon to serve sacrificially. This happened when I was in also but these young people are great men and women. When the moment comes that they are called upon to give more of themselves, most do it willingly and without reservation. They learn in the course of their growing up through boot camp and duty stations that life has responsibilities. Many of these spoiled radical left wing liberals have never learned this and probably never will. Many were raised with a so called “silver spoon” in their mouths and the idea of self sacrifice is so foreign to them they cannot conceive of the idea.
Nothing gets under my skin more than to listen to some of these left wingers who seem to care nothing for anything but themselves and their private agendas. I have searched out a lot of these left wing groups and a lot of them lean toward socialism and their goals are anything but good for America. I do not understand how some of these politicians court these radical groups who do not want good for America. They seem to have sold out their patriotic and responsible calling for so called success in the political arena. What is the price of their success though? I do not see how some of these democrats sleep at night knowing what they have sold out to get the support of these left wing radical groups. They must not have a conscious.
I remember watching the war in Iraq as it progressed and I grieved for the things our young people were having to witness and suffer. I wished it did not have to be, or that it could be me that was there so they would not have memories to haunt them for the rest of their lives. It would be nice to live in an idylic time when no one would suffer or have to go to war. We are not there yet and we will not be there as long as evil is able to control the hearts of men.
I grieved when I thought of the dread our young people would experience when they had to take a life. I knew though that because of my age and health that this was a battle for another generation. I grieved when I thought of how they would feel when a brother in arms fell.
I grieved also for the Iraqi’s that would suffer in this war. I thought of the children and innocents who would die or be crippled. I thought of those enemy soldiers who were deceived by a dictatorial leadership. I grieved for those who had been tortured and raped and slain in so vicious a manner by the inhuman atrocities of Sadam Hussein. I grieved and in that grief I knew that President Bush was a strong leader. If you think he is not stricken with the grief of suffering soldiers and their familes then you need to do some very sincere soul searching.
Yes, some will come home crippled or in a wheelchair. Some may come home without an arm or a leg. Freedom is very costly. I know there is an argument in the democrat camp that it wasn’t us that was threatened. Maybe it wasn’t today. Be assured though it was coming. I wonder why these selfish, self centered democrats who do not seem to have a shred of love for their fellow human beings or decency in them do not go to Iraq and tell the freed people of Iraq that they were not worth freeing. Tell them that their mass graves do not mean anything to you. Tell them that President Bush was wrong. Tell them that there was not a cause. They sit at home and complain that this war is not justified and it is not going to do anything for them. It is not going to increase their wealth any. People like these democrats are why America has come to be hated by so many in the world. They do not seem to care about anyone or anything but themselves. The only time they are willing to help someone is when they can get something out of it.
I am so very thankful that our veterans are received back home with large outpourings of love and gratitude from the people of America. No combat veteran needs to experience the contempt that greeted Vietnam veterans as they returned to the land they loved. Maybe at a restaurant you could pick up the ticket for a member of our military. Not for pity or that you think they need it but because when you see them and realize they may be called upon to give the ultimate sacrifice you are saying “Thank you for giving me and my children someone to look up to”.
My heart swells with national pride every time I see these young people who have a desire to serve their country. May God bring them home safely and grant to them peace and prosperity for their devotion.
