We have several ways in America to express ourselves politically and it is very important that we spend some time really thinking this decision out. Truthfully, there are still only two that are relevant decision making party’s although the Independant party is making strides. The main influence third party candidates have in American politics is to offer a means of swing votes when races are close between the top two parties. I have always wanted my vote to count directly toward speaking the “peoples voice” which is supposed to influence the Electoral vote and not just make a statement, which is what a minor party vote does. Personally, I have always felt the Electoral College should be done away with but I understand the logic behind keeping it also.
When I became of age to vote I joined the Democrat Party because I had family that were Democrats. I remember when my Dad changed over to the Republican Party, he talked a lot about it with mom. It was an important decision for him. I remember him saying he could no longer support the Democrat Party. Over time people began asking me questions about what I thought about certain issues. At the time, I was not a Christian although I had Christian principles since I was raised in a Christian home. Christian morality became an issue with me as I got out into the world on my own and I found this morality was like a voice in my mind telling me certain things were wrong and I should not do them or have anything to do with them. I didn’t listen to that voice of conscience a lot of times which if I had it would have kept me from getting into some things I should have left alone. Since then I have truly became a Christian and the convictions I once thought of as “conscience” have became God’s Spirit and word in my heart saying “This is the way, walk ye in it”. I cannot separate this conviction from sitting on a church pew to decisions concerning my vote.
I found though that even when it was my conscience there was a conflict with the platform of the Democrat Party. I felt like a hypocrite voting for a party that was inherently contrary to my conscience. I know the old arguments for being a Democrat. “They are for the working man”. “They are for the poor”. “They are for the underpriviliged”. All of these things were once true. It is also true that the Republican Party was for the wealthy land owners and business barons. While some of these things have some relevance today, they are not at the forefront of party drive now.
Some of the wealthiest people in the nation today are Democrats. Look at the Kennedy’s. Look at John Kerry. John Kerry is very rich and yet he claims to be for the working man. This is just one example. I know there are wealthy Republicans also. It is the platform the party’s stand on that is my decision maker.
1. The Democrat Party courts every extreme left wing group it can find. It has gotten great success doing this and it has became their banner. A lot of these groups are openly Communist or Socialist in their doctrine. A lot of these radical groups have been a bane on America. This seems to not be a problem for the Democrat Party.
2. The Democrat Party courts homosexual groups which goes against every Christian principle I have. Clinton even went to a Homosexual Inaugural Ball!
3. The Democrat Party is strongly union affiliated. This was needful one hundred years ago when labor sweatshops dominated the manufacturing scene and even child labor was running rampant, but now it makes the few that are union members live good and the rest of the community suffers the higher prices (because of the unions higher wages) for consumer goods they cannot afford because they are not able to get a “Union” job. Labor laws have since severely blunted the need for unions in America. They have now become a burden to society and regular workers in a community.
4. The Democrat Party is in full support of abortion under any circumstances. This also is against my Christian conviction.
5. The Democrat Party seems to have no “conscience”. Their platform seems to be lie, deceive, lie, deceive. They court the far left and then try to pick up moderates and then they even try to draw in conservatives. They are two faced in the things they say, not just every once in a while, but all of the time. It is impossible to court the far left and then try to pick up moderates and conservatives and claim to be honest. That is an oxymoron.
6. Now the Democrat party is coming out and saying they are endorsing “Same Sex Marriage”. This is as anti-Chrsitian as anything could possibly be. As the saying goes, our forefathers would turn over in their graves if they knew this. Is there no end to the immorality of the Democrat party? Is there no end to the depths they will descend to so they can gain that all important vote?
7. The Democrat Party declares itself to be “liberal”. Read my article, “Open Letter To The Democrats” on the main menu. You will see they are not “liberal”, but rather, “anti-establishment”. This is why they can accept things like “flag burning” (a treasonous act) as an acceptable form of free speech, etc. Anti-establishment thought has no fidelity toward patriotism as conservatives think of patriotism. To them, patriotism is a relative thing. This line of thinking is what makes men like Dennis Kucinich make statments on the debate that he would turn the Constitution over to the UN. This is a treasonous statement, but the liberal press will not bring him to task on this. They only attack when it comes to republicans.
They are a corrupt organization whose greed for power and corruption will take them anywhere for the vote. They have no moral restraint. Their professed love for America is cankered by their willingness to go to any means and accept any group or ideology to allow them to gain power. What good is power if you sell out everything that is decent and holy to get there? Faust had a desire to know the hidden things of darkness but he realized the price of his soul was too high a price to pay. He learned that too late though! I wonder if the Democrat party will see too late that their willingness to accept any doctrine under their banner is leading them and our nation down the rosy red path to destruction!
Most Democrats will tell you that they don’t believe in these things but they stay in the Democrat party because it helps them financially. I don’t find this to be true but even if it were true, is that a viable reason to throw Christian convictions to the wind by saying you don’t believe in doing these things? You may not, but by voting for men that do, you are lending your support to the ungodliness and wickedness that is trampeling our nation under its feet. Is money so important to you that you will throw convictions to the wind for what you think is financial security?
It is for these reasons I cannot be a Democrat. There are a lot of things wrong in the Republican party but the platform they have adopted is the platform of morality and restraint. I know there are some in the Republican party that hold some of the beliefs of the Democrats but the Republican party as a whole does not adopt these as a party platform.
I would ask you one question if you are a Christian and a Democrat. Would our Lord Jesus Christ vote for a man that is in support of abortion, homosexuality, and same sex marriage, or would he be pleased with you brushing these issues aside and concentrate instead on financial gain? I think you already know the answer to that question if you are a Christian but I will remind you what Jesus said. “you cannot serve God and mammon (money) and the Apostle Paul tells us “Have nothing to do with these unfruitful works of darkness but rather reprove them”, and “Come out from among them and be ye separate and I will receive you, saith the Lord”!
