A lot of people will not understand this, coming from a Christian but it is not words that is the power in a pledge or a nation but the actions behind the words. It is like tinkling cymbals (a pretty sound) when we want to acknowledge God with our words but as a nation or as an individual we walk contrary to God in the way he wants us to live.
Some people want the words because it gives them a fuzzy feeling of security to know they are acknowledging God with their lips but inside they are filled with sin and corruption. I personally would love to see the words “under God” stay in the pledge but the most important pledge you can ever make is not as an act of respect (God is no respecter of persons), but in an act of sincere humility.
Put your trust and your hope in the Lord Jesus Christ from a true and sincere heart and you will find the power of God in living. We can see by looking around us that the nation is making a turn to depart from God’s precepts. Ideology’s are being embraced by America that are abominable in God’s eyes and for years the blood of America’s millions of unborn children has cried out to God from the tables of abortionist. Alcohol and drugs are destroying our families. Sodomy is being turned to as a viable lifestyle.
Where is the trust in God? Someone might say that they believe in God but I will remind you that every demon Jesus encountered knew exactly who he was and fell before him trembling. The Bible tells us we do well to believe but reminds us that the devils also believe and tremble. The secret to being a nation or an individual “under God” is not believing “in” but believing “on” the Lord Jesus Christ. The long suffering and the depth of God’s love is clearly seen in the way God allows people who hate and revile his holy name to keep breathing. It is his desire that even men like this come to repentance.
When this man that hates God with such a vehemence dies, he will have cut himself off from God’s loving mercy and grace. Does the man really hate God to this extreme or is he so angry at his Christian ex-wife that he wants to try to strike out at God and the nation to try to satisfy his immense anger and personal hurt? This is the way of a soul that is sick with sin. It is destructive to itself and all that it encounters.
As a Christian, the wrong way to deal with this is to pray that God kill him. That is the normal reaction, like when Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem and his disciples wanted to call down fire from heaven and devour some people who did not want to receive him. Jesus Told them that they did not know what spirit was leading them. The Spirit of God leads us to pray for our enemies. What would be the result if through prayer and supplication God were to save this man and lead him to profess Christ to the nation with even more zeal than he is trying to destroy every vestige of God in the land.
If we want to lay blame for these things that are coming upon our land, we cannot blame those who do not know the Lord Jesus Christ. We have to blame ourselves because we have gotten lukewarm in our witness, our prayers, our worship, our tithing, and our stand in the faith. God did not let the children of Israel go into captivity because of the ungodliness of the heathen but for the wickedness of those who were called by his name. Rather than drop the jaw in shock at the gall of the heathen, we should fall on our knees and ask God to forgive us because we have not taken a stand and been the witness in power and living that we should be.
Our churches are lukewarm and the Gospel is not heard in many of them. The blood has been removed from the message and that is taking the very means of redemption from the people. Churches have become social centers and Pastors do not believe the word of God. The message of redemption has at one time or another swept our land from one corner to the next, leaving no area that is untouched by the Gospel. If you mention the name of the Lord Jesus Christ now in public, there is such an outcry that you will feel like Paul just before he got stoned.
Sodomites are sitting in the gates of America (Places of authority). Yet people want to raise an outcry over “under God” in the Pledge Of Allegiance. The Bible tells us that in the last days people would have a form of godliness but that they would deny the power thereof. The power of Godliness is only to be had in the Lord Jesus Christ. Rejecting Jesus Christ leaves all other religious expression empty and vain
