You listen to one news program and America is an occupying force and the people of Iraq hate us. You listen to another program and America is the patron saint of Iraq. Two people can listen to the sam e program and come away with a different perspective. What is going on here? It can easily confuse the most dedicated news watcher among us!
If you listen to one news broadcast, President Bush is fastly becoming the greatest president we have ever had. Another news broadcast will show him as the devil incarnate. Why is this?
I think there are several reasons for this. One is the desire for the news correspondent to inject their political opinions in what they report. They have a certain power and it would be against human nature for them to not utilize that power. According to every poll you can find, most news correspondents are “Left wing liberals” and they cannot separate this from the way they report news.
We all saw evidence of this during the 2000 presidential election when the numbers boards were out and the news people became almost giddy when they thought Gore was winning and openly despondent when they thought President Bush was winning.
Then there was the 2004 election where the exit polls were as skewed as the coverage but news broadcasters were again giddy with excitement that Kerry was going to win. The polls during the campaign were again fed by groups that made sure these polls were pointing towards a win for Kerry. This is because if people think one man is winning, a lot of them will vote for that man because they want to be on the winning team. This is why polls should not even be used. They are nothing but a tool to make lies appear to be truth.
Another reason is some news media’s desire to be “Fair and Balanced”. They report what is obviously the truth and factual and then they bring someone on who is a nut case and they have some ax to grind. I find myself actually turning the channel or turning the TV off because of some of the nut cases. These networks have allowed their coverage to be led into the realm of fiction for the sake of being “Fair and Balanced”.
Some supposedly news programs are nothing more than a gossip center. They are a “National Inquirer” of the TV screen. You get no truth from these shows. They are an hour of injected hypothesis and theories.
I do know that NPR (National Public Radio) is extremely left wing and antiwar in its news reporting and this news agency is supported by public funds. This is inexcusable. We need a national news agency that does not have an agenda, an ax to grind, or ratings to feed. I was under the impression that this is what a “National Public Radio” station should be.
I believe the American people should try to find a way to bring these news media’s to task for their irresponsibility. I know they are in business to make money but they have a greater responsibility to be honest and truthful to all Americans because of their chosen path of reporting world affairs and news events that affect everyone’s lives. A doctor is held to extremely high standards because of the power and trust he holds over peoples lives. The news media should be under this same guideline of trust.
You might think something could be done to correct the crippled news broadcasting that is our national news media. I am telling you that it is going to get much, much worse as we head into the election year.
Political pressure from parties plus the natural tendency for anyone (Correspondents included) to not want to say something that might hurt their party or their candidate will make the casual news watcher a probable victim of media politics.
I know that liberals will disagree with me but it is amazing that some things are so obvious and yet correspondents totally overlook them. One thing is that I have not heard one Democrat say anything good about anything President Bush has done. They throw lies and spin half truths every time they open their mouths. It has reached such a feverish crescendo that no one has to declare their party affiliation. You automatically know which party they are a member of as soon as they start speaking.
They have succeeded in doing one thing. They have convinced me that the core of the Democrat party is so corrupt that there is no hope for it. This does not mean that members of the democrat party are corrupt. It means that they are deceived. They look to the leaders of their party for hope to regain power in Washington. No one would want to admit that their political party is corrupt and filled with hidden agendas that were extremely bad for the nation.
As an outsider though, it is easy to see the corruption and even be astonished that the members of the Democrat party can continue so deceived and blinded. The worst president I have seen in my lifetime was President Clinton and they try to put him across as walking on water. There is a lot the Clinton administration should be accountable to the American people for. The incident in Africa that led to the movie “Black hawk Down” is blood on President Clintons hands in my opinion. He cared more for his popularity than he did for American lives when he would not authorize gun ship support for that mission. He could have had Bin Laden in ‘98 and did not want to get involved in the political turmoil. What can you expect for a draft dodger and someone who talks out of both sides of their mouth at the same time. Everything we have went through in the past three years could have been avoided if President Clinton had cared about the nation and the fulfillment of his presidential duties as much as he did for his sexual pleasure.
There is a division among us that is as great a rift as there was during the Civil War. It is a political rift and it is a hard division. The Democrat left sees their plans for America dissolving every day that a Republican is in the White House and Republicans see America going into the cesspool of corruption with every day a Democrat is in office. I do not think anyone knows how to correct this seemingly insurmountable problem in American politics. I don’t think there has been such a division among “We the people” since the argument that a state had the right to secede from the Union which was politically changed at Gettysburg into a slavery issue.
